#OnThisDay in 1975. At Silverstone, a rainstorm brought a premature end (lap 57) to the British Grand Prix. Results were from the end of lap 56, Emerson Fittipaldi (McLaren-Ford-M23) claiming his 14th & last World Championship race victory. #F1

#OnThisDay in 1958. British drivers finish 1-2-3-4 at Silverstone. Peter Collins (Ferrari D246) finished 24 seconds clear of teammate Mike Hawthorn at the British Grand Prix. It was the third and final victory for Collins, who would perish two weeks later at the Nürburgring.

Remembering legendary Welsh six-time World Snooker Champion Ray Reardon, who died aged 91 #OTD in 2024. Reardon's pro career spanned 1967 to 1991, apart from his six world titles, he won the 1976 Masters and was the first world number 1 when rankings were introduced in 1976-77.

Happy 65th birthday to Blackpool former snooker professional Steve Meakin. Runner-up (8-4) to John Parrott in the 1983 English Amateur Championship Northern final, Meakin had a 10 year pro career (1987-1997) In 1993, he had a career-best run to the last 48 of the Dubai Classic.

Happy 68th birthday to Irish ex-snooker professional Paul Watchorn. A pro from 1982 untill 1996, Watchorn reached the last 64 of eight ranking tournaments between 1984 and 1990. He reached a highest ranking of 93rd for 1985/1986. #Snooker #OnThisDay
