Namibia has been selected to host the new headquarters of the Global Water Partnership (GWP), following a decision previously approved by the organisation’s board. The announcement, which was made earlier and reaffirmed during a recent meeting, was highlighted on the margins of the 39th Ordinary Summit of the African Union, where GWP Steering Committee Chairperson Pablo Berciartua and President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah held a courtesy meeting. nbcnews.na/node/115089 #NBCNews #nbcdigitalnews #nbcDSTV282 #nbcGOtv20 #nbcPlusApp

The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (@FAO), in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform (MAFWLR) and the Government of Japan, officially launched a grant project today. The project is themed “Enhancing Resilience of Farming Communities Affected by Drought through the Promotion of Adaptive Agriculture.” The project aims to strengthen the resilience and adaptive capacity of 6,000 youth and women-led farming households, benefiting approximately 24,000 people across the Erongo, Kunene, Omaheke, Otjozondjupa, and Hardap regions. During the launch, Inge Zaamwani, the Agriculture Minister, underscored that the goal of achieving food self-sufficiency is a realistic aspiration that requires a collective effort from all Namibians. “Since 2022, the Government of Japan, in collaboration with the FAO, has been a dedicated partner in Namibia’s efforts to combat food insecurity and address climate-induced challenges. They have invested over USD 2.9 million in critical areas such as emergency response, drought mitigation, and innovative climate interventions,” she stated. Report: Loise Shiimi Photos: @MAWLR_Nam
