My friend @Bealoquebea gave an AMAZING talk at the #AGGEI Congress on how social media can boost dissemination and how AI is reshaping our daily work as professionals & researchers — always with an eye on the (next) future! 🚀💡 @aggei_gastro

I completely agree - that is why I am so silent, for those who asked. Sad, as I came across such fantastic people, colleagues and friends and we did such high quality dissemination and engagement. RIP

It’s so depressing to see what has become of Twitter. Initially a potential force for good; the dream of international, immediate, democratised scientific communication to build collaboration and education, @x now primarily a toxic organ of ignorance- it’s so sad to witness RIP

@Bealoquebea Think u read in my mind, cause yesterday morning I was wondering which terms (labels?) are more appropriate to use in a research context. And finally I found out there is not a big difference, actually. They’re both sociocultural,over-structured creations jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

In medicine, 'race' remains a prevalent term, though its continued use perplexes me. Today, I found myself explaining to a resident that when I was in uni, a great teacher emphasized that genetically, humans lack substantial differences to justify distinct races – it's about ethnicities. Race, is a social construct. Yet, this term persists in medical discourse, and the rationale behind its persistence escapes me Any thoughts on why is this happening? nature.com/articles/natur…

Historically, much of the gender gap in earnings could be explained by differences in education and occupational choices. However, 2023 economic sciences laureate Claudia Goldin showed that the bulk of this earnings difference is now between men and women in the same occupation, and that it largely arises with the birth of the first child. Goldin was awarded the prize for advancing our understanding of women’s role in the labour market. She has given us a deeper understanding of the factors that affect women’s opportunities in the labour market. #IWD2024
