“I was thinking of remaking Cop Land in Pakistan, and when researching police corruption I found this story and thought ‘Wow, this is even better’. But it’s hard to do justice to someone’s life in 90 minutes” — @SamMasud37 #MyPureLand #FCFilm2018

Audience Q: How much of the film was shot in open water? Rebecca Cremona: “Too much! We shot the ‘rough’ scenes in tanks, but a lot was in open water. We used a more traditional boat because we wanted to focus on the theme of tradition.” @SimsharFilm #FCFilm2018

Regarding the lack of men, specifically in AUNTIE, but also many of the shorts featured this afternoon, Lisa Harewood says: “This wasn’t jarring for anyone in Barbados. Nobody from Caribbean communities notices this when they watch the film. It’s a very matriarchal society.”
