@CantonaManc He’s 54, not that old lol. The class of 92 are about a year or two younger than him.
English

@Malachians Also do we want four Martin Keowns sat around a table being super partisan about the club or the unfiltered truth? People lavishing praise on Rio and Rooney- they literally still conduct interviews thru the club and/or know Johnny Evans etc so won’t criticise
English

Keane’s personality made him an incredible player but a terrible pundit. His previous experiences contaminate every position he has on things. His punditry is surface level at best, zero nuance and extremely solipsistic. I love him but because emotions control his behavior rather than drive his behavior, his positions on everything are entirely predictable.
English

@Malachians That emotion makes him the person he is. Find it sad that people are turning on Keane for this. Bruno saying “lied” would have annoyed him, especially if he genuinely misconstrued the original comments, as I did (only half listening) as bruno was passing hella lot in the 2nd half
English

@notsuwaid I love how everyone suddenly knows that he’s not had dialogue since with Bruno, as though would always come out.
English

@ammandev Well he’s a politician for the brand and probably the least articulate footballer i’ve heard, so not the best example. United have been a failing team for 13, going on 14 years- the ex pros are simply calling it as they see it, as per their own sky high playing standards.
English

@wes_manc @WayneSBarton Old man? 54. What does that make Cole, Zidane, Giggs etc
English

@WayneSBarton He’s a jealous, bitter and twisted old man. Let’s be honest, he’s always been a prick, we just forgave him that when he was a player.
English

My theory on Keane is that being sacked as he was and then ‘replaced’ by Carrick was hard to take; not only that, but Carrick now has the managerial role at United Keane was once tipped for and probably coveted.
That rift with Fergie escalated post-retirement with Fergie’s second book and caused so much damage. Seemed so needless but it might explain why Keane’s position on this United seems to rough as opposed to how he was when Ole was in charge.
English

@WayneSBarton My theory is Ole may well have sounded him out to be number 2 had he got it. Plus Carrick replacing him with the same shirt number and being successful. Remember on the Gerrard episode when he wanted to know what period Fergie was after Gerrard. Part of that insecurity drove him
English

@utdsnaps @GNev2 I highly doubt they have this ulterior motive to damn United for clicks. Its more a case that their point of reference represents a bygone era of 20 yrs ago and they are probably unrealistically holding the players to those measures whereas Rio etc want to stay in the good books.
English

These legends are losing respect day by day because of their own actions.
Criticism is part of football. But constant personal attacks, humiliation and negativity towards current players just for clicks, attention and “podcast moments” is embarrassing.
Are they jealous? Are they scared their legacy could be challenged if this current squad succeeds? Because honestly, I have never seen legends from other top clubs constantly speak about their own players like this in public.
@GNev2 . Paul Scholes. Roy Keane.
The greatest RB in league history. The greatest midfielder ever in the league. The greatest captain the league has ever seen.
It takes decades to build respect, but it can be damaged very quickly when bitterness and ego start replacing support and leadership.
Manchester United fans grew up idolising these people. We defended them, celebrated them and treated them like heroes. But it does not mean blindly accepting everything they do.
Criticism is fine. But turning players into punching bags for entertainment is not leadership. It is not helping the club. It only adds more toxicity and abuse towards players who already carry enough pressure wearing this shirt.
As Manchester United fans, we do not want our players destroyed mentally just so football podcasts can trend for a few hours.
Respect the players. Correct the mistakes and behave like the legends you are supposed to be.

English

@UTDpulse08 @Muppetiers He probably knows he got it wrong but these guys have egos especially Keane and he wouldn’t have taken kindly to Bruno highlighting his “lie”. I actually thought Bruno said that too based on the 2nd half where he was def looking for the assist, but admittedly only half listened
English

@FChater7 @Muppetiers He's had the opportunity to issue a correction or apology. So at this point its clear hes not interested in the truth, so I can only assume he wasn't in the first place. He kept trying to frame Bruno as selfish, hes been one of the most selfless team players post Fergie
English

@UTDpulse08 @Muppetiers Did he lie or just hear it wrong? I was half listening and thought he candidly admitted he was passing too much, as in the first half he shot too often (as he actually said) but in the second u could tell he was desperate to find the pass. Trouble is keane got it wrong
English

@FChater7 @Muppetiers The club. The signings and wages are dictated by the fools who have been running it. Keane achieved more because the platform was there. He joined a title winning team, with the class of 92 and the greatest ever PL manager. No, he lied, and is doubling down like the prick he is.
English

@PerrysBMX @Muppetiers Idk I just feel the whole celebratory pic celebrating the assist record was a bit small time. He was def playing for assists in the last OT game especially, and slammed the ground when Mbeumo skied it. He does deserve his due privately but Keane’s an extreme standard setter
English

@FChater7 @Muppetiers Its not bruno parading the record around is it though? Blame the media if he has a problem with it, also it is a great record he can be happy about it, nobody has ever done it, his team mates and fans have a right to be proud about it, keane is just being bitter
English

@PerrysBMX @Muppetiers The trouble is these guys are in their 50s and their only recall is the glory days under Fergie. Keane above all was an extreme standard setter. He basically said the assist fuss was small time which I agree with, although the incorrect quotes he should apologise privately for
English

@FChater7 @Muppetiers He made up quotes that dont exist to bad mouth him for no reason, keane is a legend but hes a bitter prick who still has a grudge against the club, you cant just rant and rave about standards and not give any solutions to fix it. Its just senseless rambling...
English

@UTDpulse08 @Muppetiers The team is perpetually underperforming if you look at their league finishes across the last 13 seasons set against historical wages, etc.
Keane achieved far more to put United where they are than Fernandes.
Keane’s point was assist celebrating without trophies is small time
English

@FChater7 @Muppetiers 1. The team isnt perpetually underperforming, the club is. Thats the fault of the Glazers.
2. Roy Keane lied about what Bruno said, misquoted him to make him out to be selfish.
3. Bruno has been the one constant of performing and working hard to UTD standards.
4. Keane is a prick
English

@badasskachii Nah nowhere near the greatest individual season. Standard of the PL so poor these days. Whilst a great incisive passer, playing as a 10 closer to the goal does give him plenty of opportunities to find the last pass. Also those three have done more than most to elevate United
English

Gary Neville, Roy Keane, and Scholes spent two years crying about Bruno’s body language just for him to drop the greatest individual midfield season in Premier League history. He literally played with a chip on his shoulder all year because of them. Sucking the life out of the haters is his favorite hobby. Thank you for motivation, legends! Your hate literally fueled the 21-assist masterclass. Hope you enjoyed the view from the studio. Bastards!
English

@Utd7N @AdamJoseph Hardly gonna get into a scrap as fully fledged club manager at the time is he. Jon Walters is still living off that event. Agree re Fergie etc. But part of what made the most influential player in the biggest era of dominance for United were his insane standards.
English

@AdamJoseph has he apologized to fletch? fergie? Walters? Arter? he is a massive cunt and he gets views and clicks and he is happy with it.
He pretends he is a big boy, where were you when Walters called you out?
English

If Roy Keane was a man of his word & had a shred of accountability, he would have already apologised to Bruno Fernandes for misquoting him & stating the opposite of what Bruno actually said.
Media outlets post retractions when this happened, but that's not what The Overlap is. They are a clickbait machine used to drive outrage. They do not care about the truth, only the response to what they say.
Keane is a bitter, fact twisting relic spewing lazy, hypocritical bile from a bullshit peddling dinosaur who offers zero modern insight or accountability.

🚨 | Bruno Fernandes RESPONDS to Roy Keane MISQUOTING him: "What I don't like is when PEOPLE LIE about things, and in this case, what you said about Roy Keane, basically, WHAT HE SAID IS A LIE." [@StevenBartlett]
English

@Jimbob05_ 100% on the money. Its kinda sad how we have the twitter generation turning on Keane for basically saying celebrating an assist record without trophies is small time. Now the class of 92 are getting heat for “constant negativity” when they’re winners and have high standards.
English

Can we stop with the Bruno parade?
We haven't been in a title race in 13 years.
Have won 2 knockout UCL games in 13 years.
Haven't won the Champions League in 18 years.
I don't give a flying fuck about assists in dead rubbers.
The lack of standards is appalling.
Steven Bartlett@StevenBartlett
"What I don't like is when people lie about things, and in this case, what you said about Roy Keane, basically, what he said is a lie." Bruno Fernandes responds to Roy Keane
English

@Carra23 Pep can take you to the highest ceiling football wise and is the best tactician. Fergie the greater man manager and builder of a club. Don’t forget breaking the duopoly of Rangers and Celtic - not done for 40 years since, and winning PLs despite “no value in the market”.
English

As you’d expect being there 26yrs!
The gutter?!!
Won the fa cup in 1983/85
1985/86 won the first 10 league games, should’ve gone on from there & won the league. SAF also finished 2nd in his first full season in charge 87/88.
I also have huge respect & admiration for him!
Dharnish@dharnishiqbal
Sir Alex Ferguson: Built 5/6 different teams one of which was mainly around youth, transformed United into a behemoth when they were in the gutter to the point where even with how bad they've been, they'll never be poor. Pep made a really good team excellent but there is no comparison
