Special thanks to so many of our wonderful Florida Delegation who joined me to discuss, and then sign, a Secretarial Disaster Declaration for impacted Florida farmers following the devastating winter ice storms. Projections include an estimated $3.17 billion in agricultural losses across the state. Much of these losses will take years (if ever) to recover. The devastation is heartbreaking.
This designation is a first step forward to help Florida farmers and ranchers access emergency loans and programs as they begin the long rebuild.
Special thank you to my friend FL Commissioner @WiltonSimpson and the Florida Department of Agriculture for their partnership as we work closely together to support impacted producers across the state.
USDA stands with Florida agriculture — and we will continue working to ensure producers have the support they need to rebuild and move forward. 🇺🇸💪🙏
