Back from Mexico City and reflecting on productive meetings across the board with @SENASICA, @COFEPRIS, and our @US_FDA Office of Latin America team. Lots to do and lots of discussion around the shared goals of strengthening prevention and through the U.S.–Mexico Food Safety Partnership to help ensure families can trust the real, fresh food on their tables.

Great meeting with @ProexportP, leaders from the papaya industry. With about 85% of the papayas consumed in the U.S. imported from Mexico, strong partnerships throughout the supply chain are essential to ensuring food safety from farm to table. Following our recent visits, including with Mexico's food safety authorities, excited to say @FDAfood has launched a new webpage on the safety of imported papayas to reflect our continued collaboration and commitment to food safety. Desde @Agricultura_mex nos reunimos con representantes de la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos de Estados Unidos @US_FDA para acordar acciones que mejoren la cooperación técnica en materia de inocuidad alimentaria y comercio agrícola. Abordamos las oportunidades para ampliar la colaboración en materia de capacitación técnica, intercambio de datos, desarrollo de métodos científicos de detección y fortalecimiento de infraestructura de laboratorio para brotes sanitarios. Los representantes estadounidenses señalaron que uno de los objetivos de su gobierno es aumentar el consumo de frutas y verduras frescas, y consideran que México es un socio estratégico para ello.
