@nickbateman33 Yes, theirs a void of upperclassmen leadership and the JR. class was bad. But the Frosh and Soph. class are maturing and growing. The Big East better beat Marquette now because this year is a blip.

You’re telling Marquette has someone who can do THIS and they’re 9-17??

@Ray_Nimmo Well, no … but we still played a week more than the Packers. That feels good.

@JimMcIlvaine I remember you going through it your freshman year. It paid dividends with 2 NCAA bids. These young men will do the same.

Plenty of opportunities for young #mubb players this season to get acclimated to the college game and learn from mistakes against great competition. It’s a tough season to navigate, but it will pay dividends in subsequent seasons.
Marquette Basketball@MarquetteMBB

First Marquette true freshman since Markus Howard in 2016-17 to score 30+ points. 😤 @nigel_j24 is one of just six freshmen in the country to score 30-or-more points in a conference game this season. #MUBB | #WeAreMarquette

@PaintTouches BG and Chase's past success was as complimentary pieces. This season they - esp. Chase - needed to become primary offensive options and leaders. They haven't. They can score, but not a vital moments. That's a leadership void. And the Jr. class is lacking it, too.

Looking at just BE play, he's been #mubb's most impactful player. And yes, a lot of this is just small minutes in a small sample. But unlike the noncon, he's putting up positive numbers. All I'm asking for is a chance in a few extended spurts. lookerstudio.google.com/reporting/a060…

@mooof23 @JoeMcCann3 How about this: if Shaka is looking for the best lineup, if you remove the buy-in games what is the best lineup? That takes away stat padding against perceived inferior teams.

@CrackedSidewlks Ok, this isn’t Dukiet bad. It’s not good, but those years were hopeless. Mr. Rhymes with Marquette never went NCAA -even with Rick Majerus’ guys, he insulted the state’s players and destroyed the program.

Has there ever been a team more undeserving of a win than the Bears? Disney movie-level script tonight with infinitesimal odds. I can’t wait til they get eliminated. Luckiest team in the league.

Ray Meyer once said that George Thompson could not throw a basketball and hit Lake Michigan. Al proved that he could. It was a joke then, but sometimes I wonder if our guys this year actually could hit Lake Michigan with a basketball. #mubb

You can portal, develop or both, but you can't miss on upwards of five guys in either situation. At this point, it's about analyzing who fits the system, who doesn't and moving forward. It's also about a coaching staff learning from mistakes and correcting. #mubb

Yes, Marquette is bad. The Jr. and Soph. classes have not played to potential. They lack leadership and fight in adversity. The bigs have trouble hitting layups and dunking. The defense isn't aggressive. It's a nightmare. But the portal has pitfalls, too. #mubb

@itsallstraw We don’t know what he’s saying in practice. We just know he’s not going to hang guys out for the public. And, no matter what he says, they guys have to be receptive.

For 4 years under Shaka, #mubb came out strong in the 2nd half. They executed crispy after timeouts. They played scrappy defense with all their hearts. Losing killed our guys. They played to win. Why is Shaka not saying ANYTHING about why none of that is happening any more?

Reality is, Marquette just isn’t very good this year. It is what it is, but that’s reality. Marquette didn’t need the portal last year because of Kam Jones. But remember Tyler Kolek and OMax Propser? Those two were transfers. It’s a different world and whether Shaka wants to gravitate to it or not, he needs to or Marquette will continue to fall behind.
