In her opening remarks at the Stakeholder Engagement on establishing the Faculty of Agriculture, Environment & Veterinary Sciences (FAEVS), Prof. Pauline Byakika-Kibwika, Vice Chancellor @MbararaUST, noted that FAEVS will boost agricultural productivity, research, skilling & innovation in line with NDP IV & SDGs. “Over the last 36 years, MUST has achieved remarkable growth. What we present today is not cast in stone; it’s a proposal. We need your ideas. We must learn from what has worked, what hasn’t, and what Uganda truly needs.”

The Stakeholder Engagement on the Need for Additional Agricultural, Environmental & Veterinary Science Training in Uganda is underway at Kihumuro Campus. This engagement marks a major step toward establishing the Faculty of Agriculture, Environment & Veterinary Sciences (FAEVS).

In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Wendo Mlahagwa, Dean @FIS_MUST, announced plans to establish the Faculty of Agriculture, Environment & Veterinary Sciences (FAEVS) to address local, regional & global sustainability challenges. ''Today’s meeting is intended to inform, consult, and co-create. We are here to listen, share, and receive insights from you our key stakeholders to ensure that the new Faculty is relevant, responsive, and sustainable. Specifically, this engagement aims to: Identify existing gaps and additional training needs in agricultural, environmental, and veterinary sciences in Uganda; Build stakeholder consensus and support for the establishment of the new Faculty of Agriculture, Environment, and Veterinary Sciences (FAEVS) at MUST; and Gather feedback on the proposed academic programs and structure of the new Faculty.'' Dr. Wendo Mlahagwa.

“We are not starting from zero, we’re building on a strong base of programs, partnerships & expertise.” FAEVS will advance productivity, innovation & resilience while aligning with Uganda’s NDP IV and the SDGs.''- Dr. Wendo Mlahagwa, Dean @FIS_MUST ''The proposed Faculty of Agriculture, Environment & Veterinary Sciences (FAEVS) at MUST will integrate the One Health approach linking human, animal & ecosystem well-being for a healthier, sustainable future.'' She added.

@MbararaUST today convenes key national and regional stakeholders to shape the future of agricultural, environmental, and veterinary education in Uganda. The engagement aims to gather insights that will guide the development of the new Faculty of Agriculture, Environment & Veterinary Sciences (FAEVS).
