@townbrad Objectively, the only debate is the games played. It’s 11 games missed for Flagg. It’s 1 game missed for Knueppel. If the discrepancy is enough to make an argument for Knueppel, then that’s fine. Still believe ROY goes to Flagg.

Genuinely curious, since you use the qualifier “probably the best off-ball rookie scorer I’ve ever seen,” how old are you and how long have you been evaluating NBA players?
Also, “solid defender” and “capable playmaker” don’t seem like elite descriptions. Listen, I love watching Kon. He’s tremendous. Charlotte is fortunate to have him.

The Kon vs Flagg debate tells you a lot about how people evaluate basketball. Kon's probably the best off-ball rookie scorer I've ever seen, having the best 3pt shooting season of any rookie ever and the best current season from behind the arc. Cooper's a very good player, but there's nothing he does that is as elite as Kon's off-ball threat. Kon is also a solid defender, a capable playmaker, and requires a much lower usage to impact the game in a way somebody like Cooper Flagg can. Cooper's ceiling is ridiculous and he's so young, but this is Kon's award to lose.

You guys can all go paint a pretty picture of George Gervin’s career and call me an NBA casual… I am. 😉 I don’t apologize for not knowing about a player whose prime was in the 70s when I was born in the early 80s and I didn’t start watching the NBA until like 1988. A sport I played one season recreationally. The point stands. If Caleb Williams and his team win the trademark…then too bad for bad business on Gervin’s team. Glad he was a great player.
