Prof. Divya Balan, Faculty of International Studies at FLAME University, participated in the prestigious International Labour Organization (ILO) STREAM Research Event, “Caring Across Borders for Those Who Care: Rethinking Social Protection for Migrant Domestic Workers in the South Asia–GCC Corridor,” held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as part of the South-4-Care Learning Hub Training. She presented on the theme “Gendered Mobilities and Social Protection Gaps in Origin Countries,” focusing on the lived experiences of migrant domestic workers from Kerala in the GCC states. Her presentation examined the structural inequalities shaping migration pathways, particularly at the intersections of gender, labor, and social protection in origin contexts. The session also highlighted the importance of building more inclusive, portable, and rights-based social protection systems to better support migrant domestic workers across transnational care economies.

Prof. Naman Dubey, Faculty of Human Resources at FLAME University, published his research in the Q1-ranked journal Acta Psychologica. His paper, “Identifying and prioritizing determinants of employer branding,” examines the key determinants of employer branding and proposes an importance matrix to assess their relative relevance. The research identifies nine determinants of employer branding, reaffirming those established in existing literature while also introducing Organizational Rightsizing (ORS) as a new determinant. It further provides a structured approach for assessing employer branding and offers a metric that can be applied to compare organizational sentiment across data sources. Trade competitiveness in global textile markets is shaped not only by production capacity but also by product positioning, supply chain integration, and trade policy. While India has a long-standing presence in textile exports to the European Union, its portfolio remains concentrated in intermediate goods such as yarns and fabrics rather than mass-market finished garments. In contrast, Bangladesh has established a strong foothold in readymade garment categories, particularly knitted and woven apparel, where demand is significantly higher. Although India's exports may reflect higher-value or better-quality products, this positioning alone has not translated into comparable market share, pointing to deeper structural challenges such as higher production costs, fragmented supply chains, and logistical inefficiencies. In this article, Prof. Anwesha Basu and Prof. Arnab Chakrabarti, both Faculty of Economics at FLAME University, examine how trade dynamics and policy frameworks shape India's competitiveness relative to Bangladesh. They highlight the role of preferential access, noting that Bangladesh's duty-free entry under the Everything But Arms (EBA) scheme and status as a Least Developed Country have historically provided a significant advantage. However, recent developments granting India duty-free access to the EU textile market signal a narrowing of this gap. The article positions this as a strategic opportunity for India to strengthen its textile export ecosystem, suggesting that addressing structural inefficiencies alongside policy shifts will be critical in expanding its presence in global apparel markets and generating employment.
