Officer Antonio Richardson joined Fox News this morning for a live interview to discuss the connection he made with a young man on top of the Dames Point Bridge in April. The young man was ready to take his own life. Thankfully, he took Officer Richardson’s hand and stepped back. Officer Richardson, who is also a pastor, and the young man remain in contact to this day and the impactful interaction has gotten international attention. We hope it will inspire others to get help and take mental health seriously. Recently, Commissioner Mark Glass was invited by the @FLSheriffs to speak in a discussion panel at the Commanders’ Academy. Commissioner Glass discussed with 40 sheriff’s office leaders about the resources available at FDLE to their agencies, the support that FDLE can provide for investigative and operational endeavors and the opportunities available at FDLE to foster their leadership journey.

This week, sheriffs’ offices from across Florida came together for the FSA Task Force Operations and Hurricane Response training. Over three days, 40 sheriffs’ offices and nearly 100 attendees worked side by side to strengthen coordination, communication, and readiness ahead of hurricane season. This training is the foundation for how we respond when disasters occur. From establishing forward operating teams and understanding disaster assistance agreements, to refining communication protocols and working alongside state partners, each session focused on real-world application. Participants engaged directly with the Florida Division of Emergency Management and toured the State Emergency Operations Center, reinforcing how local and state resources align during a crisis. Attendees participated in building and sustaining all-hazards response plans, ensuring every agency leaves prepared to serve their communities in disasters. When a storm is headed our way, Florida’s sheriffs are not starting from scratch. They already know each other, they know the plan, and they know how to work together to get help where it is needed. That work is happening now.

The Speaker discussed the importance of the Law Enforcement Memorial, the lasting legacy of these heroes, and why they will never be forgotten.

Today, the @FLSheriffs held its annual Law Enforcement Memorial ceremony in Tallahassee, Florida, where Will's name is now forever etched into stone. It’s been more than a year since Will gave his life in the service of this community. Standing at that granite wall this afternoon made the weight of his sacrifice and the love we still hold for him feel as present as ever. Will's name is now engraved alongside other heroes who gave everything in service to their communities. We were proud to stand with Will’s family, honor his memory, and make sure his legacy continues to live on through the people who loved him, knew him, and worked beside him at @WCSOFL. Let us live in such a way that would make him proud. We love and miss you, dear friend.

The SJSO Honor Guard stood with law enforcement personnel to honor our fallen heroes at the State of Florida’s Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony in Tallahassee Monday. Eleven names were also added to the @FLSheriffs Memorial Wall - which is dedicated to remembering those who sacrificed all and those who put their lives on the line every day. #neverforget
