In the last 2 days, I’ve had 2 NCOs I’ve previously worked with get selected for promotion and 3 NCOs I’ve worked with get selected for WOCS. I get to watch people win daily. Best job I ever had! 🫡

I promised you I’d come back. I tried. I promised you I’d be safe. I was. I promised you wouldn’t have to do this life without me. I meant it. Baby, I’m sorry. I’m not coming home. I can’t. When I left to fight in this war, I did it for God, family and country. I left to protect all three. I left to protect you. And that man in the uniform. The one in your doorway, who looks like his heart has shattered into a million pieces. He was my commanding officer. He was also my friend. I had to protect him too. Just know, when the bullets were still flying, bombs exploding and hell was literally here with me on Earth. All I wanted was to get home to you. I’m wounded, baby. I’ve been shot at least three times. I led the enemy away from my team. My radio is off. They can’t come back for me. I don’t want them to. I want them to get home. I want them to keep protecting you. God is protecting me even now, while I hear their voices getting closer, and my breathing is getting rougher. Only thing left is to finish this fight, and go home. I push myself up using the wall. They are really close now. If he’s in your doorway, I did my job. I kept you, my team, and my country safe, through Gods grace. And I’d do it again. And again. 🇺🇸

This time every year, I travel to the final resting places, when known, of those I served with who are still on duty guarding the gates. This means a weekend of travel and remembrance, sorrow and laughs. They were citizens like me, who gave everything so I could write these words

Foster number 23. Another small dog. I personally prefer big dogs, but I also like the small ones. He is as cute as can be. He is, of course, in a forever home now.

IMHO, Pound for pound, the United States Coast Guard is the most well rounded service amongst all of them. Diversity in missions is vast. "TO DO MORE WITH LESS" I said what I said.

Number 26. The biggest dog I've fostered. Big and gentle. I don't understand it, but I can't help but fall in love with every one of them. Still, you have to let them go so you can foster another! Dog lives matter.

Foster number 25 was obviously a peeping Tom. He could get away with it. Look how cute. He's in a nice home (I'm told). Great dog. Actually all of them were.

Foster number 24. Very sweet. I actually met the person who adopted her. It looked like a great match!

Look at how precious number 22 is! She was not just cute, she was sweet. Had a slight issue while healing from her spaying recovery, but all is well and she is in a forever home.

Number 21. Unsure of his breed(s). As you can see, a real cutie. He was around 8 years old, but he found a home.

Number 20 foster. Another GSD mix. Very strong and playful. His ears were floppy, so I suppose he was considered "undesirable." However, he found a home.

My 19th foster. This is a sad one. His previous foster didn't keep him calm after his heartworm treatment, so they removed him to me. Unfortunately, the broken up pieces of heartworm got to his heart, and he passed away shortly after I got him to the vet's office.

@Jingoman111 I tried walking a mile in a grunt's boots. I ended up with blisters. They were too big.
