@ThomasplumeS began to replace scarce 17thC books that were listed in early inventories but found to be 'missing' in the early 20thC. We have supported the library in this quest on many occasions over the years & were delighted to give a grant towards these latest acquisitions.

Delighted that we could help @Kings_College save the export-stopped Alan Turing 'Delilah' archive for the nation. The support from @xtxmarkets was quite incredible and ensured that this hugely significant archive is now at King's and is accessible to all in perpetuity.

FNL members had a fantastic visit to @SenateHouseLib yesterday! So rewarding for members, whose subs allow us to give more acquisition grants, to see some of the rare books and manuscripts they helped to save, including 16thC cookery books & an 18thC conjurer's flip book!

In a reception @SalisburyCath .bsky.social this week, the 13thC Sarum Master Bible was welcomed home to the city in which it was created nearly 800ya. An exquisite and early example of a 'portable Bible'; 17cm tall, its parchment pages are as almost as fine as tissue paper.

Many of the projects we fund have a training element (e.g. internship, student placement etc) not mandatory but great if feasible as it increases the benefit of our grant AND benefits the conservation profession.

On #DarwinDay, we'd like to celebrate Erasmus Darwin, Charles' grandfather. For a while he was the doctor for Calke Abbey and we have prescriptions he wrote for the family and for his patients from the surrounding area. This example was for Sir Henry Harpur on 19 March 1786.
