@KatePG I sincerely hope that we did! I can say that his ideas and models were certainly one of the primary inspirations for this direction of research. This paper was a merging of those ideas with the TDRL model of which there is substantial empirical evidence in midbrain DA activity.

The constant barrage of awesome-looking AI results can induce panic in AI researchers. How could you and I possibly keep up, let alone compete? I try to remember the following: * Most AI researchers oversell their results * Most “breakthroughs” rely on existing well-known methods

One of the strangest things about academic publishing is the lack of feedback signals along the way.
You work on a “secret” project for months and then you have a final coin flip for p(accept) at the very end, with acceptance being almost independent of the actual research.
