A very happy #Lancashire Day wherever proud Lancastrians may be in the world. The County Palatine was established in 1182. The map is from 1936 and quite rightly shows "Lancashire over Sands", Manchester and Liverpool (I'm not into this 1974 boundary change). @FORLancashire

@BBCLancashire @VisitLancashire On Lancashire Day of all days, this day is especially for the historic county and we should respect that. Sorry to disappoint, what you have created here is lovely but it does not represent the whole of the historic county.

We've been working on something very special for #LancashireDay with @VisitLancashire. We’re thrilled to introduce our brand-new short film, This is Lancashire, which showcases just a few of the fantastic places in our county. 🌹 Listen on BBC Sounds: bbc.in/LancsListenLive

Remember: ✅ Our maps show THE counties ❌ They are not ‘former’ counties ❌ They are not ‘former’ boundaries ❌ They didn’t have ‘boundary changes’ ❌ They have not been ‘abolished’ They are the true counties, existing today with the same boundaries they’ve had for centuries.

Introducing our 2025 #Lancastrian Awards. Due to technical issues, we apologise for the late publicity. As we always announce the winners on #Lancashire Day, the time to get your nomination forms submitted is short. Closing date is Wed 19 November. Please feel free to share.

@LancsISA Good to see this represents historic counties. A great shame that the first team play the occasional match in Sedbergh in Yorkshire! Oh wait a minute, is it Cumbria or Westmorland & Furness?😂 @lancscricket we want all home matches in the historic county of Lancashire. 🌹🌹

It is with deep sadness that we learn of the passing of Lord Doug Hoyle. Lord Hoyle was a patron of FORL who as a Lancastrian himself, born in #Warrington, was a loyal guardian of this historic county. Our thoughts are with his son @LindsayHoyle_MP and his family at this time.

50 years ago today, our county was carved up. There’s absolutely nothing to celebrate in this but let us celebrate the fact that our boundaries have been in place for hundreds of years, certainly since 1182. If you were born in this area, even post 1974 you are a Lancastrian. 🌹
