Stellar just announced its privacy roadmap at Meridian 2025 in Rio. This isn't about hiding transactions, it's about giving YOU control.
WHY Stellar needs privacy, HOW they're building it, WHEN you'll actually use it.

1️⃣ The Privacy Problem
Right now, Stellar is 100% transparent. Every transaction is public forever.
What this means:
• Anyone can see your balance
• Anyone can track where you send money
• Companies can't hide business deals
• Individuals have zero financial privacy

Yes! Transparency keeps networks honest. But it blocks real-world adoption.
Examples:
• Banks can't put client data on public blockchains
• Businesses can't expose supplier prices to competitors
• You probably don't want neighbors seeing your salary
Jake🦞🤓: So how do other blockchains solve this?
Two ways: full privacy (Zcash, Monero) or no privacy (most chains). Stellar chose a third way.
2️⃣ Stellar's Privacy Philosophy
Three core principles:
1. Transparent by default
Networks should be open and auditable. Trust comes from verification.
2. Privacy is configurable
Users and apps decide what to hide. Not forced, not banned, optional.
3. Compliance-forward
Privacy tools must work with regulations. Prove you're legit without revealing everything.

• Put funds in a "private pool"
• Transactions inside pool are shielded
• Prove your funds are clean without revealing source
• Similar to Tornado Cash but compliance-ready
Confidential Tokens:
• Token balances hidden by default
• Prove you have enough without showing exact amount
• Banks can use this for client accounts
Selective Disclosure:
• Share proof with auditors/regulators only
• Everyone else sees nothing
• Compliance + privacy

Not yet. Developers need to build privacy apps first, then LOBSTR can integrate.

That's the point of "configurable", you can prove you're NOT a criminal without revealing your identity.
