@UKHospKate The more that people are kept at home, the more they are restricted from working normally, they reflect and decide to change their lifestyle. A contributing factor to people leaving the workplace. Grinding people down and taking away their hopes only stokes #MentalHealth problems

@UKHospKate We don’t see what a covid passport does for reducing people testing positive for it when vaccinated people are equally transmitters as unvaccinated. It’s unvaccinated who are more at risk surely. Disproportionate effect on the economy!

This would be catastrophic for hospitality - with no furlough, grant or other support a combination of working from home and wider use of vaccine passports would see many businesses struggling to survive

@UKHospKate The government needs inflation/prices/wages to rise to be able to increase tax revenue to pay down debt created from all the money printing but if their arrogance drives policy instead of sensible & achievable policies the train’s going to leave the track

If unsustainable wage increases are driven by labour shortages rather than productivity growth the UK risks being caught in an inflation spiral which could see earnings growth wiped out by higher prices and interest rate rises inews.co.uk/news/politics/…

@UKHospKate All anyone wants is fairness and to be heard. This reads of bias and fuels division. If the Government truly has confidence in the vaccines, what risk are non vaccinated to the vaccinated is the question they don’t seem to address. We must avoid #apartheid

Without this VAT freeze at 12.5%, we will most definitely see many small Hospitality businesses close. Many many more job losses. This will be a real make or break decision. Is this Government pro or anti small business? theguardian.com/business/2021/…

A trip to the pub could be more expensive from this weekend as taxes cut during the pandemic start to rise again. VAT will rise from 5% to 12.5% this weekend before returning to 20% in March. I’ll look at the impact on one of the industries hardest hit by Covid on @BBCBreakfast

The investment, regeneration and levelling up in these communities will come from hospitality and tourism - so vital that we retain a low rate of VAT from March 2022 to keep prices low, boost competitiveness and investment in jobs and growth
