The official NCAA rule states athletes have 5 years to complete 4 seasons of competition, with JUCO years counting toward this limit. A high school athlete playing 2 JUCO seasons typically has 2 NCAA seasons left. A 2024 court ruling and NCAA waiver temporarily grant an extra year for some JUCO transfers exhausting eligibility in 2024-25, but this isn't a permanent rule. No standard rule guarantees 4 NCAA years after 2 JUCO years. Details are in the NCAA Two-Year College Transfer Guide.
