@fantasyfooty Agreed. I think - apart from any of the Weasleys - he was the very worst character to cast a black actor as. Pretty much anyone else would have been fine.

I'm not against Snape being black in the new Harry Potter series. I'm not against it on principle. There are obviously some pretty awful things and memes being said/shared that are clearly just racist. But it isn't necessarily racist to be a bit annoyed the character has been changed from the book's description, because his appearance carries meaning. 1. Snape is specifically and deliberately described as having "sallow skin" and being "pale." It mirrors the same pale complexion Voldemort has, which is partly why Snape always feels suspicious. They're designed as visual inversions of each other: Snape has a big hooked nose, Voldemort has a flat snakelike one. The whole point of Snape is that he LOOKS like the villain. Everything about his physical description screams untrustworthy. That's Rowling's deliberate misdirection, teaching readers not to judge by appearances. Change the appearance, you risk losing the power of that twist. 2. There's also an irony nobody seems to be talking about. By making Snape the suspicious, untrustworthy, seemingly villainous character AND the only prominent black actor in the cast, you've actually created the exact optics you were presumably trying to avoid. The one black guy is the one everyone's supposed to distrust? How is that progressive? 3. People are making a false equivalence with Hermione being black in the Cursed Child. That's completely fine because the books never say she's white in the text, and it doesn't affect her story either way. Snape's appearance is different. It's written into the plot. 4. The writers now have a real issue down the line. How are they going to portray Snape being bullied when younger? How are they going to portray James Potter suspending Snape upside down with Levicorpus? Surely they aren't going to force racist undertones onto Lupin, Potter, Black and Pettigrew? PLEASE do not turn this into some politically driven TV series where the Marauders' cruelty becomes a racial storyline. That would ruin both Snape AND James.

Gameweek 6 68 points 📊 OR: 1.01m 🌎 (🔼 770k) A reasonable first post-Wildcard result and a big relief for those who ditched Salah in favour of Haaland. Team is well set up looking forwards although there is still much which is unclear about how this season will pan out. Will be saving transfers where I can so that I have ultimate flexibility. Need to study the schedule to work out when the best time to Bench Boost is.

Current Wildcard Draft Kudus and Gyokeres probably the two most likely to be changed. Who am I missing?

Gameweek 5 Rolling the transfer with a view to possibly hitting the WC button next week with Watkins, Salah, Wirtz, Sels, Milenkovic, and Marc Guiu all on the chopping block.

Gameweek 4 67 points 📊 OR: 1.02m 🌏 (🔻210k) Went from 300k green arrow after the Salah pen to 200k red arrow after Haaland brace. Despite this, I am still happy with the squad. Salah to Haaland plan still taking shape for Gameweek 6, despite Salah's CL returns.

for those who haven't been following, this nepal story is fucking crazy: - bunch of teens and early 20s kids plan start a social movement against the current regime on social issues and econmical inequalties - government gets wind of it scaling and tries to geoblock social media - people get more pissed off, start protesting - government cant handle the protests, lift social media ban - doesn't do anything, people just organize further - burn down parliment building, pm's house. beats the shit out of the finance minister in the streets, kills the pm's wife. - kids elect their own new PM on their discord server, ex-chief justice of the supreme court who was part of the 1990 revolution that ended the monarchy - army head ackowldges the validity of the discord vote and is meeting the new interm PM to discuss elections for new leadership going foward

Gameweek 4 Palmer, Wan-Bissaka ❌ Semenyo, Munoz ✅ First transfers of the season. Maresca's comments RE: Palmer didn't fill me with confidence and he's too expensive to sit on. Semenyo comes in. Wan-Bissaka was a terrible shout (even as a bench option) so have upgraded him to Munoz. Moving the pieces into place for a potential switch from Salah to Haaland in GW6. Salah and Wirtz get GW4 and GW5 to change my mind. Double Forest defence is something which will also need sorting quickly. Don't suspect Ange will do anything to strengthen the backline.
