#OTD 340 years ago - Matej (Matthias) BEL, ethnic Slovak, one of the most prominent European 18-century scientists, "Magnum decus Hungariæ", polymath, founder of modern geography in Kingdom of Hungary etc. etc. was born in Očová. University at Banská Bystrica is named after him.

A pilot meeting of @JoannaSliwa, me, and the university officials Branislav Kováčik and Peter Terem on a newly established international cooperation. @FPVMV_UMB has been selected by a committee as the only university from East Central Europe to be integrated into a prestigious University Partnership Program in Holocaust Studies supported by the @ClaimsCon. Thanks to this partnership, starting from the 2024/25 academic year, we will be introducing three new optional courses on history of the Holocaust available to our as well as ERASMUS+ students both in Slovak and English. The partnership also includes organizing public events for non-academic audience. Stay tuned, more info to follow!
