@RiccardoOdone Oh, the correct mapping would be ActiveRecord -> FireORM (Firebase Firestore). It would mean to exchange a SQL database with a noSQL database.

@RiccardoOdone In your stack I would go with the following: Rails -> nest.js Sidekiq -> nest.js/bull Maybe: Devise -> Firebase Auth ActiveRecord -> Firebase Firestore

🙏 I'm setting up a new project and thinking of going full-stack TypeScript because it needs to cover web and mobile: - React - Expo (React Native) What would you replace the following with? - Rails - Devise (auth) - ActiveRecord (Postgres) - Sidekiq - Heroku - TailwindUI

In #OOP is one principle called "Tell, don't ask". I searched for the meaning and stumbled over the blog post of @danpkn from 2018. It is a good one. I like the sad collaborator and the mean client. danparkin.com/2018/09/18/tel…

@ofhouse It can be that both cases work if you "return" the promise in "willThrow". Currently "willThrow" returns undefined implicitly.

What's the difference between return new Promise() 🆚 return await Promise()? Well, TIL that you can only catch errors when using return-awaiting. #javascript #codinglife

@RiccardoOdone Do you have tips on where to learn it? I think the learning comes with experience and working with the best.

Refactoring is rework. Learn to write better first drafts so that you need fewer refactoring cycles.

@RiccardoOdone I would call the type ArticleType or ArticleEntity. In case of an interface it is IArticle.

In #TypeScript you cannot import a type and a module with the same identifier. What convention do people use for the following?

@RiccardoOdone There is a certain effort but in the end, some years later, it always was a learning experince which enriched my understanding of software development.

My biggest fear in moving from #Rails to #TypeScript is missing on all the RoR goodies and gems. (And yeah, I'm comparing a framework to a language 😅)
