With the new national minimum wage kicking in our entry point staff such as commis chef, Kitchen Porter, FOH helper will now be paid £31,724 for full time. £4009 on top to hire this person in NI contributions. Plus £1,274 pension. Total is £37,007.

The civil service is so massive, pensions alone are now costing the taxpayer £56 billion a year.

Sickening but not surprising.
Just as sickening is that yesterday, we were told my daughter needed an ambulance by 111 but were quoted an 8 hour waiting time! We made our own way immediately to be greeted with a 19.5 hour wait time at A&E.

Tesco pay £6bn in UK taxes every year. He doesn't pay personal tax here because he doesn't live in the UK. £10m a year is cheap for a CEO running a profitable billion pound business providing 340k jobs.... He should really be on about 5x that.

Supermarkets have a track record of not having equal pay, lots of claims against them.
And some staff still have to claim universal credit - which is wrong when company profits ^

@__bigdude @g36248677 You're wrong. Tesco's sales grew 7.1% in 2020/21, market share rose to 28.2% by 2024, and profits doubled to £2.3 billion in 2023/24. He's an excellent CEO.

@hopestardust20 @BBCBreakfast It’s a scary disease sure - but thousands potentially contacted with it, 0.1%-1 have caught it from an event 2 weeks ago. 10% unfortunately die so ~0.01% from the outbreak population.
On avg 7-8 cases/week. But every case will be national news now. Be vigilant of symptoms.

@hopestardust20 @BBCBreakfast People are going home to isolate - the spread of the disease is kissing, sharing vapes etc… not like covid - should people be travelling via public transport when they have potentially come into contact with the outbreak - no. Is the risk still relatively very low, yes. 🤷♂️
