Huge congratulations to @jreynoldsMP, taking the helm at a newly souped-up @biztradegovuk department - rightly adding innovation and science to the brief. Arise, DBIST. A long-time good friend of @fsb_policy, we wouldn’t have achieved the late payments legislation (which just today goes before the House of Lords) without negotiations with Jonathan in Opposition and Government. He spoke at our big 50th birthday. The changes create a real opportunity; I went in to Downing Street for a chat to reconnect and discuss ideas on how to get small businesses more help to grow - in every postcode. (Churchill’s 1922 impressionist oil painting he did of shadowy trees and a French lake is here on the wall; ‘joy in a paintbox’ is how Churchill described painting; it was his way to cope with the stress of public life. Not sure spectating @ Sunderland AFC is quite as good 😉)
