It’s all smiles as the #FVSClassOf2029 heads to the Mountain Campus for the Western Immersion Program (WIP)! Now in its 29th year, WIP immerses freshmen in the themes of their 9th-grade curriculum, The West, through hands-on exploration of the natural world and Western history.

There’s nothing like the first weekend with everyone back at FVS! Our returning students arrived on campus today, while families gathered for the Parent Brunch, and new students began orientation and bonding activities as a school.

Welcome home, Danes! Orientation Weekend continued today with New Student move-in and registration. From campus tours to scavenger hunts and connecting with new peers and faculty, the excitement on campus is contagious.

It’s great to be back on the Prairie! Our pre-season athletes, new international students, and student leaders are officially on campus. We celebrated with our new international families at Howe residence, and students are already back into the swing of things.

FVS is thrilled to announce Matt Luyster as our new Athletic Director! 🎉 Currently leading the Boys’ Lacrosse program, Coach Luyster is a former NCAA Division I lacrosse player and team captain at the U.S. Military Academy.

This Sunday, hit the trails at FVS RIDE! A mountain biking event and race created to give young riders access to the outdoors, hosted here at FVS. Middle schoolers & little ones ride free, and high schoolers can join for just $12. Register at bikereg.com/fvs-ride

Happy #NationalSleepUnderTheStarsDay! One of FVS’s most loved traditions includes is sleeping on the deck of the Mountain Campus and falling asleep beneath a sky full of stars. It’s a place where friendships grow, memories are made, and the traditions of FVS are carried on!

Last month, Haiyun Lu, the Director of International Students, co-led the 7th #TCIChina Conference in Shanghai! Ms. Lu presented multiple sessions on strategies for building engaging and effective language classrooms, and delivered a keynote address 👏

FVS is proud to host the annual Stanley H. King Institute, a week-long workshop that brings educators together to explore the art of deep listening & strengthen their connections with students. This year, FVS faculty members Vivian Hansen and Jen Lebo are participating.

Since 2005, #FountainValleySchool has proudly hosted the Gardner Carney Leadership Institute Leadership Lab. This week-long immersive program empowers K–12 educators to teach leadership with intention, blending brain science, leadership studies, and cultural competency.

Students are encouraged to use all the tools in the Makerspace inside of the Hawley Library including: two classrooms, a reading room, the Robotics Club, two green screens, two Cricut makers, two sewing machines, two button-makers, four 3D printers, podcasting kits, and more!

Faculty members Jessica Smith and Deb Prantl took their summer to new heights by tackling the Manitou Incline. Rising over 2,700 steps and gaining nearly 2,000 feet of elevation in less than a mile, the Incline is another way to embrace challenges and build resilience.
