"Today, the Department of Environmental Protection and Conservation (MOCC) and FAO-VANUATU ISLCM project are hosting a crucial workshop to validate the Integrated Coastal Management Zone Framework. Vanuatu stands to benefit significantly from integrated coastal zone management, including improved problem resolution through multi-sector involvement, a culture of accountability for measurable results, reduced damages and costs from natural processes and human activities, pollution mitigation, and sustainable resource management. Additionally, this framework aims to enhance economic sectors, preserve coastal ecosystems and cultural heritage, maximize ecosystem services, promote social cohesion, and improve the quality of life for coastal communities. The focus on natural and cultural heritage, biodiversity, specific ecosystems, landscape values, and coastal zone preservation underscores the comprehensive approach of this initiative. Après de nombreuses années en tant que coopérant expatrié, j'ai eu l'occasion de travailler dans divers pays et milieux. Cependant, l'un de mes projets les plus gratifiants a été de diriger une équipe sénégalo-mauritanienne-hispanique, soutenue par la coopération espagnole (AECID), avec l'appui technique de la Direction Nationale des Parcs du Sénégal, de l'Université de Séville, du SEPRONA (Guardia Civil d'Espagne) (lutte contre le braconnage) et de l'Association des Amis de Doñana. Ensemble, nous avons élaboré le document pour la création de la première Réserve de biosphère transfrontalière d'Afrique : "La Réserve de biosphère transfrontalière du Delta du fleuve Sénégal" (déclarée en 2005), dans le cadre du Programme MaB-UNESCO.
