@gf5555 @sophielouisecc We don't get paid over time and so many were doing over time or asked to cancel their annual leave. I haven't had a "holiday" in over 2 years because my annual leave has been recovering from burn out. NSH and social care is still under as much pressure as we were during covid19

@sophielouisecc You have to ask why public sector workers fail to mention they enjoy 25 days fully paid holiday Sick Pay 20% pension contributions (private averages 3%) Jobs for life Annual incremental pay rise (regardless of performance) Subsidised canteen

I'm sure this is helpful advice for individual grants too. As an #OT I fill out grants for #patients to access equipment they need that is not funded by the #NHS or #socialcare budget.

@Jopo_dr @DoctorMayJay Yes! So many issues with my local pharmacies due to this. And medication shortage.

@DoctorMayJay Also the assumption pharmacists are any less affected by demand for services and staff - two I went to last weekend were closed for staff shortages! Fundamentally we just need more trained healthcare workers and allied professionals and actual investment

@GeneralJohnC @theRCOT Yes! The phoenix was much better. Its a symbol with meaning -from aches to fire. A symbol of survival, of strength.

@theRCOT Many OTs would especially like to know how on Earth the decision was taken to remove the Phoenix, the enduring symbol of the profession in the UK, which has significant provenance at a huge cost to members & on the advice of an advertising company rather than member vote.

@Juliet_Young1 @nicolameadOT Thank you! When I was a community engagement officer I was told my job role to encourage the 'hard to reach' groups into fitness. Essentially my role was to change the service to meet their needs but the leisure centre pushed back constantly coz they didn't get it! Now I'm an OT

I'm also going to start uploading my social justice images for anyone to download. It may take me a while to get them all up, but this first one is up...

@DrNeenaJha Not just the media though. There experience might be that they generally were not able to get a F2F apt meaning that is their reality and their view based on what they knew. I heard 99% of my pts telling me they have struggled to get a GP apt, sadly some are not even offered tel

Ah great, this old nugget again… Pt: Must feel strange for you GPs seeing patients F2F again after 2 years? WE NEVER STOPPED! Seriously, why are we STILL being asked this?! Those false media headlines really did their job of letting GPs take the fall

@ShabaNabi I'm literally speechless. Why they doing that, unless they are all elderly or disabled or pregnant and you are the only one not in those categories. If they are doing that just because of the colour of your skin, they suck! I'm sorry you have to go through that.

@itscarryl @Nicole_Lee_Sch Can you choose not to take the pill? They may have prescribed it, but surely you have the right to not go get it or take it?

Love when non-disabled people chime in on debates about medications and their relative safety, who do not in fact take those medications. When xantac was taken off the market for "cancer concerns" that weren't even at concerning levels, my health tanked. 1/4

@Fab2bFitCat @nysuri @UKGastroDr @WhistlingDixie4 But shouldn't patients have a member of staff with them who can explain whilst they're viewing notes? There are many things in my job that I could write out fully but still wouldn't make sense to those without medical/physio background.

Katherine’s story – part two 💬 "On the day I was diagnosed, I was told my treatment would be finished in nine months. I used up every single ounce of energy to get through, focusing on the three weekly milestones of the next round of chemo." [1/4]
