I thought in the summer that Partey and Jorginho to Zubimendi and Norgaard was an upgrade. How wrong I was. Title would have been secured if we had Uncle Jorginho in midfield instead of Zubimendi. Zubi’s drop in form after Christmas has been concerning. A shadow of the player we saw at the start of the season.

@Tripple____M Bring them in, but add another right winger to compete for Bukayo Saka’s position. The team cannot rely on a winger who struggles to take on defenders next season.

@ShowBoat00 When Partey was holding down the midfield last year...you ungrateful lot were giving Rice the plaudits and hounding the guy out of the team. Now look at the state of our midfield, we beat this city team 5-1 last season. We should have gotten Xhaka once he became available.

@EbukaMeansGreat Fact: Thomas Partey consistently moved into space to receive the ball and initiate attacks from deep in defense. They did not have to worry about progressing the ball or playing long passes. That is something the team is missing now.

Most of us agree that a left winger and a striker to replace Gabriel Jesus must happen in the summer, but the way it is now, a dominant DM is one of our biggest need. Zubimendi can’t control things at this level, sadly. General Thomas Teye Partey for all the sticks he gets, would play through that 4 man midfield press Pep Guardiola constructed yesterday. Tiny margins!

@EbukaMeansGreat Both the 6 and 8 can’t play ball. Rice can’t switch play or play through the middle either. For some reason, he never could dislodge Partey at 6 and is not trusted there either by the manager now.
