@peregrine795 @nationaltrust honestly, i looked at ranger roles (i thought it would be something else i'd really like doing) but the pay was always dismal...

The @nationaltrust advertising for a full-time ranger role that requires certificates and experience in conservation for the princely sum of £22,000pa. What a joke.

This is just the beginning. Our council owned heritage sector could see a major collapse as local authorities, choked of money by central government, will have to defund culture. Be a voice and advocate for yours.

Anyone out there got pet insurance that they really like? @NapoInsurance is quoting a whopping 77% increase with no claims 😬 Wondering who people think is a good insurer?

If you are an archaeologist/ heritage bod and involved in land management or landscape management in England, you probably need to read this. Heritage is a bit hidden but read the Technical Annex. #archaeology #landscape #landscapearchaeology #WorldHeritage

I think about this when I look at my collection tapes and CDs, and when I think about old floppy disks, hard disks, usb sticks, and now cloud storage. Things change so quickly, I feel like its hubris to think that traditional old hardcopies don't have value anymore.

I remember asking, when I was a govmt adviser on archives, how we were planning to make digital archives survive future software and hardware changes. No answer. There's just an assumption that 'the future' will always know how to access Word files. Crazy.

Well done to the local authority archaeologist! The public inquiry found that the benefits of the development “do not come close to outweighing the heritage harm” to the scheduled Roman site at Gatcombe, one of my former cases. Bravo! #archaeology

Case update: appeal seeking outline planning permission dismissed. The Inspector found that the proposals would 'fail to conserve the significance' of Gatcombe Roman Site Scheduled Monument. acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/ViewCase.aspx?…
