Probably gonna take a mini break from tournaments. I need to sit back and consider where I should go with my gameplay from here. There are definitely a lot of punish/pressure ideas I can implement. I also really want to work to make my G&W strong and continue improving my mental

Got 5th at Hard Read and 3rd at Over the Moon, my last central PA brackets I did not play as clean as I wanted, but the performances were solid regardless I cannot express how much I owe to central. It's truly an incredible region I hope to represent them well in the future :)

@SlashShinobi I knew this would happen the second you started charging rofllllllllll. I think up smash has a 1% hit rate from behind unless its against rob

@Skewersewer I think he complements Sonic, Sora, and Fox as a secondary really well (provided you can deal with Pikachu) for example As long as you have solid fundies and know how to play around parry, he’s a really solid pickup imo

@Skewersewer Shulk doesnt lose a lot of matchups, but the ones he does lose are common meta characters like Snake, ROB, and Diddy. I think hes best as a main with a secondary to cover those few MUs He can be solid as a secondary if you lose to rushdown, swordies, FGCs, and anti-meta chars

I find it so funny that in the year of our lord 2026 people still consider Shulk to be "potential man". What potential lol? He's Ike with some colors Shulk is carried by the fear of things he is simply not capable of. People hear the words dial storage and start shaking 😂

Second straight fusion top 8 beating Kouhai and Synnister Thought my play overall was really good. I felt strong in a lot of areas I’ve been working on too Played a bit too passive, esp vs Deltaforce Thanks to everyone for being so nice. This bracket was super fun Ggs :)

@FaderDB I think you might have the largest tank of willpower known to man. I don't know a single other person who can will themselves to do the thing that they want/need, even if it isn't pleasant, as often as you. You might just be built different, actually

You drive more than 90 minutes to a tournament (not a carpooler, you are in the driver's seat), play 4-5 sets + friendlies, then drive 90+ minutes back to end off your day. Assume your eating habits are fairly standard for that day. How long does it take your body to recover

@ThassGamer Maybe I’m too world warrior pilled, but I think the time spent in transit is pretty irrelevant for me Playing at a decent level, I am equally tired getting back from a tournament I walked to vs one I drove 2.5 hours to each way Same for being the driver vs being driven

7th at Encore (4-2) beating H-Meister Entered this tournament with a new positive mental and I felt great. My spacing and hit confirms were also very strong Ledge trapping and clutch factor needed work Nonetheless, excited to be in tristate long term. Hoping to do well :)

@aFx_Punky @KilogramHours Melee locals have definitely taken a noticeable hit since the pandemic, and that’s from a game that had 20 years of history Since rollback has become popular most other FGC locals have completely died. Smash would likely not be an exception

@KilogramHours Did rollback netcode kill offline Melee? Of course not, it won't do the same for Ultimate.

Smash Ultimate Switch 2 edition possibly getting Rollback Netcode might kill locals. A lot of the reason people (casual competitive players) go to offline events is because online feels that significantly worse.

@FaderDB As someone that plays a character similar to that, focus on what you get out of the space you take and try to capitalize on what your opponent is doing You don't have to wait for something to go your way, MAKE something go your way

@KeyDedede It’s a bit harder to execute on that with shulk compared to other characters just due to lack of combos Feels like I consistently rely on a few set plays and mistakes to get early kills What is the best actionable way to approach fixing that though?

@FaderDB The character/player in front of you You unfortunately fall into the “play to not lose” and not “play to win” mentality it feels like You should also be working on disadvantage, but please focus on call outs, aggression, and on hit rn

@SolRidley My disadvantage is very poor. Def a lot of room for improvement there My punish has gotten a lot better recently, but I feel like I’ve hit a roadblock there Getting damage out of shulk feels like it requires so many reads. High level players don’t give me what I need/want

@FaderDB from someone who's felt the same thing, this feeling generally means you need to improve your disadvantage and reward off hit over everything. barring cheese, smash is a numbers game; even if you do win neutral 80% of the time, (.8)(20) equals (.2)(80)
