He chose to act as judge, jury, and executioner. A legal, ethical, and moral military is not defined by the actions of any individual soldier or group of soldiers. It is defined by its code of conduct, why and how it fights, its adherence to the laws of armed conflict, its rules of engagement, its enforcement of standards, and its commitment to accountability through a functioning military justice system. Every military on earth has bad soldiers who do horrible things, including the U.S. and UK militaries.
