2) “A lot of it was sold by Lebanese Christian absentee landlords like the Sursocks” is also true. The Sursock purchases were among the biggest pre-1948 land sales to Zionist bodies, and they absolutely involved absentee landowners from Beirut and tenant evictions.
3) “Hitler bailed out the JNF in 1933, or it would have been liquidated” that’s the leap that needs proof, because Haavara was not a Nazi ‘bailout of the JNF’. It was a transfer agreement between Nazi Germany and Zionist/Jewish institutions to facilitate the emigration of German Jews and move part of their assets to Palestine via German exports. It benefited parts of the Yishuv economy, yes. But that is not the same thing as “Hitler rescued the JNF from liquidation.”
So the accurate version is:
Jewish land ownership before 1948 was limited.
Some major sales came from Lebanese absentee landlords, including Christian families like the Sursocks.
