The Agentic Economy Briefing #04 is out. This month: a 140-company consortium takes aim at stablecoin concentration risk, Cloudflare and AWS bring machine payments to the edge, and we look at what it actually means to control your funds when every service provider fails at once. fairgate.io/newsletter/age…

Our series on Bit2's features continues. This time: client-side smart contracts and what programmable payment logic looks like when it doesn't touch the blockchain. Most smart contracts run on every validating node. That makes computation expensive, public, and limited by network throughput. But most payment logic, like spending policies, rate limits, authorizations, conditional transfers, only involves the parties in the payment. Bit2 keeps it that way. A lightweight virtual machine lets users define programmable spending policies directly in their wallet. No third-party custody, no blockchain execution costs, no global consensus for decisions that don't require it. For autonomous agents managing funds without human supervision, this isn't optional. It's infrastructure. Latest entry in our series on the features defining Bit2, Fairgate's Bitcoin-native payment layer for the agentic economy and the world of autonomous commerce already upon us. fairgate.io/post/53-extend…

Our series on Bit2's features continues. This time: what self-custody actually means in a Layer 2 payment network. fairgate.io/post/52-bit2-y… Holding your private keys is only part of the story. A user truly controls their assets only if they can spend them, recover them, and withdraw them under adverse conditions. Three properties determine whether that's real: Unilateral Access, Uncensorable Exit, and Mass Exit Safety. Most networks satisfy one or two during normal operation. The real test is whether all three hold when everything goes wrong simultaneously. Bit2 was designed around that standard from the start. Discover the latest entry in our series on the features defining Bit2, Fairgate's Bitcoin-native payment layer for the agentic economy.

Our latest entry on Bit2 features is here! Today, we expand on Bit2 on EVM. The long-term vision for Bit2 is Bitcoin-native. That hasn't changed. However, reaching millions of autonomous agents requires iteration, real usage, and the ability to move fast. Deploying first on EVM-compatible Bitcoin layers like Rootstock is how you get there without waiting. 40K tps without batching. Lower L1 costs. Faster commitments. And real economic activity generating the feedback that simulations never can. Check the article here 👇 fairgate.io/post/51-bit2-o…

Our series on Bit2's features continues! Today we go back to the foundation: the premise and architectural principles that shaped everything else. Most systems start with a technology and search for a use case. Bit2 started the other way around. In 2025, we asked a simpler question: what properties must a payment network have to support agentic commerce? Every architectural decision followed from there. The answer became a premise and a set of principles, each one designed to eliminate an entire class of future bottlenecks, trust assumptions, or privacy failures before a single line of code was written. Thirteenth entry in our series on the features defining Fairgate's Bit2 and the agentic economy already upon us. fairgate.io/post/50-bit2-p…

Payment speed, peer-to-peer neutrality, and the privacy-compliance tradeoff in stablecoin infrastructure. These are the questions shaping agentic payment architecture right now, and they are no longer theoretical. We cover all of it in the latest Agentic Economy Briefing 👇 fairgate.io/newsletter/age…

Our series on Bit2's features continues! This time: stablecoins, and why they're first-class citizens in Bit2. Agents prefer stablecoins. Research on popular LLMs suggests nearly 53% of agentic commerce would be conducted in USD-denominated stablecoins when given the choice. Bit2 was built with that in mind. Full confidentiality by default. Compliance tools that work at the edges, not through surveillance of every transaction. Cryptographic proofs instead of data exposure. Privacy and compliance shouldn’t be a trade-off. Bit2 is designed to deliver both. Twelfth entry in our series on the features defining Bit2 and the agentic economy that’s already upon us. fairgate.io/post/49-the-di…

Most Bitcoin bridge designs require permanent locked collateral. What if bonds only needed to exist during disputes? Our latest research paper formalizes FLEX & FLEX2: a framework for on-demand security bonds using BitVM-style dispute systems, garbled circuits, Taproot, and CDS primitives. The paper includes formal security proofs for: • On-chain enforceability • CDS secrecy • Soundness • Leakage-bounded privacy • UC realization Read the full paper here 👇 fairgate.io/publication/47…

Our article series on Bit2 key features continues to expand! Today, we keep digging on the relevance of speed and latency for agentic commerce. In the agentic realm, latency equals money. The faster a payment confirms, the faster an agent moves on. Credit cards take 1–7 seconds. Internet round-trip latency is under 200ms. That gap has always existed because the infrastructure between them wasn't designed to close it. Bit2 targets 400 milliseconds, the industry benchmark for agentic payments. It gets there by separating what needs to happen now from what can happen later. Heavy cryptographic computation moves off the critical path. Pre-confirmations are bonded and enforceable. Users never wait for proving. Fast because it's lazy. By design. Discover more here 👇 fairgate.io/post/48-to-be-…

Proud to see @bitvmx powering the next generation of Bitcoin interoperability. Union Bridge represents years of research around fraud proofs, optimistic verification, and trust-minimized design finally becoming tangible infrastructure.
Rootstock@rootstock_io

BIG: Union Bridge is now live on Rootstock Testnet. Built on @bitvmx, it replaces trusted intermediaries with cryptographic enforcement. Withdrawals verified and challenged directly on Bitcoin. No fixed signers. No committees. "The point isn't that Union Bridge is invulnerable. It's that the attacks that have historically destroyed bridges, the majority trust failures, are no longer on the table," says @SDLerner, Co-founder and Scientific Advisor, @RootstockLabs. This is an early, experimental release focused on validating core bridge flows and usability. Access Union Bridge on Testnet via Atlas: atlas.testnet.rootstock.io
