Please be aware of street closures today as crews start setting up for the Arts & Crafts Festival. Magnolia Ave between Section and Bancroft will close at 1 p.m. today. The remaining downtown streets within the festival area will close at 5 p.m.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run will be held tomorrow morning at 8a.m. from the High School to the football stadium at Volanta Park.

Congratulations to Sgt. Tyler Sellers and Cpl. Andrew Babb on graduating from the National Command & Staff College this morning. Special recognition to Cpl. Babb for earning the Top Capstone Award for the program’s highest-rated project.

February Statistics

The Pirate Dash is this Saturday. Be aware that traffic in the area will be affected as runners make their way through. Please keep an eye out for pedestrians or consider finding an alternate route during this time. The 5K run begins at 8 a.m. & the Fun Run is at 9 a.m.

K-9 teams Cpl. Andrew Babb & K9 Gator, and Officer Cody Baker & K9 Lucca competed in the Region 1 USPCA competition, earning 🥈 2nd Place in Narcotics Searches against agencies from FL, South GA & South AL. Officer Baker & K9 Lucca also placed 10th Top Dog in Narcotics Search.

The OOMMs will roll Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. Please watch for posted parking restrictions along the route, and do not drive around any barricades. Barricades are in place for your safety and the safety of participants and spectators.

Today, Feb. 15, we recognize National School Resource Officer Day and thank the officers who serve our local schools. Your dedication to safety, mentorship, and education makes a difference every day. 💙

The MOJs parade is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. this Friday evening. Various downtown roads will be closed at different times to allow crews to prepare the parade route. Please be on the lookout for signs indicating parking restrictions.

During last night’s Council meeting, Chief of Police Stephanie Hollinghead announced the promotion of six officers. Promoted to Sergeant are Bunky Bishop, Brett Dahlmann and Ward Faust. Promoted to Corporal are Brian Millines, Joey Seay & Charles Speagle
