US troops are not in Germany to protect Germany. They’re there because the US needs bases to conduct operations beyond the North American continent. If Trump withdraws them, he will harm the United States, not Germany. It’s absurd how many Americans fail to grasp this.

And we fund the vast majority of NATO. I'm not saying there is no benefit to us having bases in Europe, I know there is. I'm not one of these psycho hardcore isolationists who thinks America first means America only. I do believe the European countries need to learn to become more self sufficient when it comes to defense. The history of European conflict is far worse than the history of U.S. conflict. Two of the largest catastrophic wars in the last 120 years were European. I don't trust the European countries can actually maintain the peace without U.S. presence, even amongst themselves.

@ButchM5573 @Strandjunker Actually they are an expense racket for us. These countries pay a significant amount of the operating costs to have these bases. It's more expensive to have these soldiers in the U.S. than to have them in Europe, where the host pays a large portion of the operating costs.

Kind of yes. We have enough European bases losing one isn't the end of the world. Germany is more ideally located geographically to power project, but it's not the only base in the area. This is a big play move, how Trump typically handles things. Make the big ask, then settle somewhere closer to the middle, but still getting more than he gives up.

They could, and probably will. But it won't do anything in the long run as blue states are consistently bleeding congressional seats. There's outliers like Oregon picking up a seat, West Virginia losing a seat, Ohio losing a seat, but New York, California, Illinois are hemorrhaging seats census after census.

Isolationism is an awful idea. We need to stay in certain areas because we are the only military honestly that can keep people in check just by having a presence. Strict isolationism only leads to another widespread conflict like WW1 and WW2 it's an awful idea to go full isolationism, but we can reduce our presence in countries that refuse to support our efforts of eliminating threats around the world. Yes Iran is a good cause. What we did in Venezuela was good. What we are setting up in Cuba is good. Supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia is good. Supporting Taiwan against China will be good. There are worthwhile causes and conflicts that are good and noble to get involved in, but it doesn't have to be every issue around the world. A Western friendly Iran is great for the U.S. economically, imagine the free flow of Iranian non sanctioned oils impact on the global oil prices will be huge, but stopping those crazy Muslims from having nuclear abilities and following their Non Nuclear proliferation agreement they signed is a must. These things will have great benefits for peace and economic prosperity in the end, we just have to finish these regimes off to allow for things to correct. Isolationism leads to more costly conflicts not only in human treasure but economic prosperity as well. It's a fine line to walk but things that can benefit us by getting involved is good for us to get involved in, this is what hardcore isolationists miss in the age of globally intertwined economics.

Good. Vacate all of Europe and let the dickheads fend for themselves. Strict isolationist America needs to return. Everyone complains that we’re the world police, cool story. Take 10 years off of funding bullshit conflicts and “protecting” Europe. Let’s focus on our side of the pond and let the Europeans sort out European problems.

Tucker is a clown. Shows that sometimes talent is best when it has the guardrails like at fox and is very damaging when not focused and directed. Some talented people are best without guardrails because they have hard line principles they adhere to no matter what, others lack those hard-line principles and are influenced by money and influence are likely to follow perceived popular narratives whether right or wrong rather than stick to their positions based on principles.

In the 2020 census blue states lost a total of 11 congressional seats to be reallocated in 2030 to red states. YOU DON'T LOSE CONGRESSIONAL SEATS AND HAVE THEM REALLOCATED TO RED STATES WHEN YOU'RE ON THE RIGHT PATH, THAT HAPPENS WHEN PEOPLE IN THE MIDDLE ARE TIRED OF YOUR POLICIES AND VOTE WITH THEIR FEET BY FLEEING OUT OF YOUR STATES.
