My lab's first paper is out in @Nature. We show that lipoprotein uptake protects tumors from ferroptosis by delivering the lipid antioxidant α-tocopherol. Surprisingly, tumors use sulfated glycosaminoglycans—not canonical receptors—to capture lipoproteins. nature.com/articles/s4158…

I often advise radiotherapy patients to avoid high-dose antioxidants like Vitamin C, as they may reduce radiation’s effectiveness. New research from the @SJMorrison_ lab shows why lower Vitamin C might also help 🐭patients recover from radiation-induced cytopenia👏! More info👇

Congrats Stefano on a very unexpected result: elimination of ascorbate from multipotent hematopoietic progenitors is sufficient to confer long-term reconstituting potential in irradiated mice. Ascorbate suppresses leukemia partly by negatively regulating self-renewal potential.
