SIK Player to Watch: Kaelyn Boss returns to Osage City as a sophomore after a breakout freshman year that put her on the map statewide. The 5’9” guard earned Flint Hills All-League First Team and SIK 3A First Team All-State honors as well as the SIK Small-Classes Non-Senior of the Year honor, establishing herself as one of Kansas’ top young scorers. She filled the stat sheet last season with 23.1 points, 5.8 boards, 5 steals, 2.5 assists, and 30 blocks while leading the Indians to a 22-2 record and a state appearance. Boss is poised to take another major step alongside a strong supporting cast, including senior Emory Speece and freshman Jayla Jenkins. A multi-sport standout with a state championship in javelin, her blend of size, strength, and scoring ability gives Osage City a true matchup problem in 3A. “I am very excited for this upcoming season. We have a very talented group and hope to return back to the state tournament,” Boss said. She comes from a high-level athletic family — her brother Landon stars at Emporia State as the 2025 MIAA Defensive Player of the Year, and her sister Lexi is a Division I thrower at Wichita State. #sportsinkansas 📸: Michael Turner

Boss Sister’s Dominance: Friday night, Osage City competed in the Red Bud Classic in Wellsville and the Boss sisters showed out as usual. Both girls took first in throwing events. Senior Lexi Boss (left) took first in the discus with a throw of 144-10. Lexi has the top throw in the state currently with a PR of 158-08 which is also the 7th best throw in Kansas history. The 3A State Meet record of 157-07 is in serious danger in a few weeks. Lexi will head to Wichita State next year to continue her track and field career. Freshman Kaelyn Boss (right), not to be shown up by her sister, threw the javelin a school record of 133-9 to take home the gold. Kaelynn currently stands at the top of 3A with her mark. Both sisters were also part of the Osage City basketball team that made it to state this winter that is coached by their mom, Kate Boss. Kaelyn was named the SIK Non-Senior Player of the Year as a freshman this winter after scoring 555 points in her freshman season. Quite the athletic family as their older broker Landon Boss was a SIK 2A DPOY in football and just finished up an All-American career at Butler CC. #sportsinkansas

#1 in Kansas, All-Classes: Lexi Boss of Osage City with a 158-06 throw in the discus today at West Franklin. It is the seventh best throw in Kansas history in any class. It is also the seventh best throw in the country in 2025. Boss is a Wichita State signee. Her freshman sister, Kaelyn, threw 129-10 today to take second. That throw ranks 10th in Kansas in any class. How loaded is 3A this season? Four of the 10 best throwers in any class of Kansas discus are in 3A. 1, 2, 4 ranked throwers in discus in all classes are 3A kids (Boss, Sudbeck - Nemaha Central, Seyfert - Beloit). The 3A state meet record is in danger (Jacquelyne Leffler - Northern Heights - 157-07 - 2008) #sportsinkansas

Kasen Parsons, junior of Osage City (3A), is not only one of the top QBs in the state of Kansas, he’s also the #1 ranked javelin thrower in the state of Kansas now in any class after his 203-3.5 school record toss today. This mark ranks in the top five nationally. Parsons has made major improvement this season after throwing 177-10 as a sophomore last spring. He’s also a 3A all state pick in basketball. OC has it going on with Parsons and the Boss sisters in throwing this season. All train with with Performance Sports Throws which is ran by the Boss Family (Lucas & Kate). Parsons has a shot to be a Top 11 caliber football player next fall as well after earning 2A all state honors the last two seasons. OC has been pretty spoiled at QB recently with Parsons and Landon Boss. #sportsinkansas

Sports in Kansas 2025 Non-Senior Girls 🏀Player of the Year (4A & below): Kaelyn Boss of 3A Osage City. It’s not often a freshman picks up this honor. However that is until a freshman has one of the best high school freshman seasons in state history. Boss, who you may have heard about last year as the top 8th grade discus thrower in the United States, opened up the eyes of everyone as freshman basketball player this winter. On the season she averaged 23.1 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 5 SPG, 2.5 APG, 1.3 BPG. That totaled 555 points, 139 rebounds, 119 steals, 60 assists, 30 blocks. Not to put any unwanted pressure, but she’s already on pace for 2,220 points. Her older sister Lexi is a senior and one of top throwers in Kansas that has signed to Wichita State. Older brother Landon was a Sports in Kansas 2A 🏈 DPOY and multiple sport star that just finished up All-American career at Butler CC. Their mother, Kate, is the girls head basketball coach at the school. The 5’9” freshman will look to be one of the premier athletes in the state over the next few years. OC made it to this years state tournament in 3A with a 22-2 record. “It was a super fun and successful season. I am very blessed that I got to play alongside my sister and for my mom. It was a season I will never forget.” Boss told Chet Kuplen of Sports in Kansas earlier this week#sportsinkansas
