کاربران ایرانی پس از اخراج فاطمه اردشیر لاریجانی از هیئت علمی دانشگاه اموری، کارزاری را برای اخراج لیلا خاتمی از دانشسرای یونیون نیویورک به راه‌ انداخته‌اند. دختر رئیس جمهوری پیشین نظام ایران در دانشسرای نیویورک استاد دانشکده ریاضی است. براساس داده‌های پایگاه این مرکز آموزشی، لیلا خاتمی از سال ۲۰۰۴ ایران را ترک کرده و در دانشگاه‌های فرانسه، ایتالیا و آمریکا مشغول تحصیل و تدریس بوده است. محمد خاتمی، «رئیس جمهوری اصلاحات» نظام اسلامی، پس از کشتار هزاران تن از مردم ایران در هفته‌های گذشته، با صدور بیانیه‌ای، انقلاب ملی ایران را «توطئه بزرگ برنامه‌ریزی‌شده» توصیف کرد و نوشت: «اظهارات مقامات اسرائیلی و حمایت آمریکا، تردیدی در شکل‌گیری یک توطئه بزرگ برنامه‌ریزی شده علیه ایران به جا نمی‌گذارد.»
