I had abortions at 19 and 24, and a child in between. One was my choice, one wasn’t. At the time, I had reasons, but those reasons eventually turned into regret, regardless. I think about those children often, who they might have been, and how my daughter might have had siblings. Even now, she feels that absence. Looking back, those choices feel like the most self-serving decisions I’ve ever made. Even the one I didn’t want, I went through with it to please the family of someone I loved, hoping they’d accept me. I pray for forgiveness, even though I don’t feel I deserve it, and if it ever comes, I believe it’s only through God’s grace. The truth is, I always knew what I believed was right, I just wasn’t strong or faithful enough to follow it.
