Let's talk about Pat Freiermuth and why he will be an elite TE for #Steelers Numbers below are what rookie TE's drafted in 1st or 2nd round. Most TE's see yards and receptions double after a rookie season. Freiermuth would be set up for an incredible season if he followed that.

How do we feel about the #Steelers' moves so far?

@TommyJaggi Queen is your communicator on defense and has been playing well. No need to rock the boat. Wilson has been playing better with less responsibilities (Holcomb subbing in). If Wilson continues to improve, his snaps should come from there

Patrick Queen led the #Steelers' defense with 82 snaps against the Browns. He was credited with 3 missed tackles, 6 receptions allowed for 42 yards, and a penalty. Payton Wilson played 54 snaps. He recorded 1 missed tackle and allowed 2 receptions for just 4 yards. There's a lot more that goes into the evaluation of these linebackers, but is 82 to 54 snaps too uneven a split for these LBs?

@Flipsteeler I personally think there is immense value to good defensive line depth and rotational ability. DL also tends to need a season or two to get acclimated to the NFL.

@FalceAndrew But ya want to use 2 high draft picks to eat up a ton of snaps, is just unnecessary in 2025. This is a win now D, that has some issues that you and Nick just ignore Ya think a NT playing 450 snaps a year is worth taking in the 2nd or 3rd? A DT sitting for 2 years worth a 2nd?

This would honestly be a 10/10 class for me. Not sure who you think would play NT, but Collins and Alexander both profile perfectly for this defense to learn and grow. Golden provides some offensive spark and Neal is my favorite mid-round RB

@Flipsteeler I mean, All of the backups played 20-30% of the defensive snaps last year. The team is also pulling back on Heyward's workload and Larry O is likely cut, so there will be more snaps to go around. Give me the talent in this deep DL class and I'll figure out the rotation later

@Flipsteeler Still not sure who the NT is? Collins is built like a 3-4 end. Alexander is shorter but profiles more as an end. Eagles just showed why great DL depth is important

@FalceAndrew NT worth taking in the top three rounds when they'll probably play tops of 400 snaps a year? Backup DT the same question applies for the next 2 years

I'm off the Deone Walker train, but sub him out for any of the other second-round DE-types and I could live with it.

@dinglesRfru1t @StillCurtain This team has gone on record saying they won't negotiate a new deal in the middle of the season. With Wilson a free agent after this year, I think the team needs to get a contract laid out so once the season ends, he can sign. Avoids the franchise tag and/or him entering FA.
