AZ-1はバブルでMAZDAが新車を乱発してた時期に企画が立ち上がったので開発の人手が足りずイギリスのH&W社に丸投げして英国で初期開発がスタートするも湾岸戦争が始まりAZ-1のイギリス人開発スタッフが傭兵として中東へ行った為さらに人手が足りなくなりながらも市販化されたクルマだ、面構えが違う！！

AZ-1の設計•開発はMAZDAから依頼された英国H&W社で始まる 日本人も渡英し日英のスタッフによる共同開発が行われ脚のセッティングは当時ロータス傘下のテストコースで煮詰められる だからこそMRなのにアンダーステアに逃げずクイックなハンドリングとなる AZ-1は日英のハーフとして生まれたんです✨
