I'm just gonna come out and say it. Top-level SM64 speedrunning died when the 5/5 was achieved. This bounty is putting it on life support. Once the bounty is claimed - and it will be - top-level SM64 speedrunning will return to dormancy.

So long as people are speedrunning, there will be those at the top level striving for perfection. Maybe there will be a period of time where no new records are set, but saying SM64 died is pretty disingenuous. Every time there is an "unbreakable" record, it is eventually broken.

if you regret actions you’ve made or you’ve wronged people from ~4-7 years ago and you grew and got better and it still haunts you every now and then, is it better to let them continue to live having forgotten you or to apologize even if it means potentially reopening the wounds

@Poryg2n @GTM5471 Modding the stick module is the primary way for longevity, with a steel bowl and, if possible, a reinforced stick (the bowl being the most accessible mod). Using a "throws" controller for Bowser helps too. Some console runners main other controllers like the hori pad mini or GCN.
