The research provides a look into the migration journeys, legal realities, and challenges faced by non-citizen wives of Malaysians. The study is based on the lived experiences of 151 women across Malaysia captured through focus group discussions, interviews, and an online survey

On the 11th of November, Family Frontiers launched of our latest research report, “Navigating Borders, Barriers, and Belonging: The Lived Experiences of Non-Citizen Wives in Malaysia.” during our Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on Marriage Migration in Malaysia!

* Include non-citizen spouses under labour laws, ensuring mandatory EPF, SOCSO benefits, and other entitlements. * Grant separated, divorced, and widowed non-citizen spouses the right to reside and work in Malaysia, regardless of nationality, gender, income, custody status, etc.

* Remove the statement of prohibition on employment on the visas and all restrictions on employment.. * Allow non-citizen spouses to work in all sectors, including those requiring professional licences.
