The Korean Red Cross announced on May 9 that Kim Seon-ho donated 50 million KRW to support young adults preparing for independence (children aging out of institutional care) on his birthday, May 8. May 8, Kim Seonho’s birthday, is also World Red Cross Day. The donation, made on a day that honors the values of humanitarianism, carries even greater significance. Kim Seonho has continued to support vulnerable communities through various donations, including medical expenses for children with leukemia in 2021 and ongoing support for young adults preparing for independence in 2023 and 2024. Notably, the decision to support these young adults was made through a fan vote, adding deeper meaning through fan participation and empathy. Kim Seonho said, “Thanks to my fan club ‘Seonhohada’ who are always with me, I’ve been able to continue donating. I hope this will provide practical help to young people preparing for independence.” The annual donation campaign with his fans has become more than just an act of goodwill—it serves as a message of encouragement.
