one of my favorite clothing pieces is older than me, has no tag or brand, is handmade quality and of all things was just a random handme down from my mom. I have zero idea why she had it and it is NOT her style.

do people think they can't dress goth because items cost too much? because you really can. The funny thing is the commercialization of accessories and the like is extremely recent!! You can dress gothic without buying made for clothing or trinkets.

I'm curious about something. I lived really deprived growing up but I loved goth fashion. All my clothes were either something black, or a handme down. I rarely got to have anything made for that purpose. I didn't get a pair of shit kickers until a year and a half ago.

@zachtothefuller @maximilian_ The problem is that real achievement is what artists want, but it's not something consumers care much about. On the other hand machines are incapable of nuance, and humans crave novelty. In time, one gear will spin the other- ironically when the novelty of ai wears thin.

This is very accurate, but the rabbit hole goes way deeper on dimensions of male friendship that I need to explain to my wife. Example #1: Most groups of male friends >5 have a guy who is relentlessly abused by the rest. This person will be mistreated in both small and sometimes very large ways, often involving real humiliation. Despite this, he is always one of the most central members of the friend group, which can often be measured in quantitative ways (e.g. Best Man at a majority of weddings within the group). Example #2: Knowledge of personal details about male friends is basically independent from how close you are with them. Examples of lines that I have heard from male friends, where people either had absolutely no idea to the point of not having guesses, or had hilariously opposite assumptions: * "Does have a father? Is he alive?" * "Does anyone know where has been living for the last 5 years?" This was among groups of people who were literally groomsmen at one another's weddings, had gone to school together for years, partners were also best friends etc.

Sometimes you’ll meet somebody that nobody else cares about, and everybody in their life treats them like they don’t matter. And because of your big heart, you’ll get to know this person, treat them well + eventually love them. But as time goes by, you’ll realise little things about their character, you’ll see a side of them that you never initially knew existed. You’ll come to understand why others avoid them. You’ll even silently feel like the fool for being the one who tried to ‘rescue’ or ‘normalise’ them.

I keep feeling like I only hit my stride yesterday, in a lot of ways it keeps being true. I thought I was good enough just 250 pages in and that was wrong. I thought I was good enough at 500. Still doesn't feel like i've found it because there's so much to know.

@S0L4RFL4RE It's an effect of nihilistic thinking. And I am very wary of people who easily excuse their actions in believing what they do is too personal to affect people around them in negative ways.

when you think so little of yourself it is hard to imagine you are capable of causing great harm bc u basically don’t even think u matter. so u commit cruel actions and never recognize them as such.
