Slaves lived longer and more productive lives than their relatives in Africa. They didn’t have to survive because they were very expensive and valuable, their owners took every opportunity to ensure their survival. Farming cotton was easy compared to steel or coal production and they got rainy days and Sundays off. The problem in the black community was White people took care of them so long and so well, they think we should still.
