I've seen a lot of "screw the media" and "let the players do their jobs" comments since last night. Fine. But talking to reporters, like it or not, IS part of their jobs. It's in their contracts. It's collectively bargained. The NHL, NHLPA and PHWA have written agreements.

It’s also deeply ironic that John Tortorella goes back to media jobs (such as being on the ESPN desk for hockey coverage) after a firing, then does a stunt like this.

This is probably an unpopular opinion on here, but I agree with the NHL’s ruling (loss of a 2026 second-round pick + Torts 100k fine). It seems excessive, but it’s incredibly disrespectful to the media folks, who often are at the rink early in the morning and stay late.
