In the same way the US armed and supporters right wing governments in Latin America. The US through FDR heavily pushed for decolonization in the Philippines and other countries in the pacific.

It's interesting to see people call other people campist for saying that the USSR provides vital material support to decolonization efforts to places like North Vietnam, China, ANC, and other decolonization movements while still largely opressing people in EE.

@DJROTN @_Cyber_Six_ I deny the Soviets were hyper imperalist becuase hyper imperialist is a fake term. They were imperialist in certain regions and helped other regions like the US did in the cold war.

@_Cyber_Six_ Much like US hegemony and outreaches some of them were imperial in aims but others did have true believers. The ussr was no different in this regard.

@Fantasyeconomic All of Russia's actions abroad were for their own selfish interests and for the sake of imperial conquest. Might as well believe that Pinochet had to do what he had to do to stop the evil bad communists at that point if we believe in the good intentions of Stalin's butchers.

@Fantasyeconomic Technically speaking, the United States also supported decolonization and did all they do for "democracy". You can see how much truth there was to that, and when it comes to Russia their loyalty to Socialism can be better seen with how they split Eastern Europe with the nazis.

@_Cyber_Six_ No, they would have not. Even without enganging in a wild althistory hypothetical. USSR arms and technical assistance were vital to anti colonial endeavors.

@Fantasyeconomic Of course they would have, those interventions were imperialist operations aimed at expanding Russia's imperial influence all over the world, just like they used to do against Britain back when the Great Game was a thing. The ideological bullshit is always for show.

@_Cyber_Six_ Soviet and Tasrist Russia were not the same. Tsarist Russia would not have sponsored multiple anti-colonial missions that lead to liberation of several nations. Nor did I say people didnt suffer under the USSR.

@Fantasyeconomic Somehow, the entirety of Eastern Europe that was under Russian colonial rule is unlikely to agree. Soviet Russia was the same as Tsarist Russia which was the same as current Russia, just with different names in upper management.

The biggest one is that if we lived in say a anarchist society and another society seeked to broadly build a state. A anarchist society would evenutally have to inflict violence at some point.

There is no political organization that does not require violence at some level and there is very clearly levels to what violence is acceptable. But, even in a ideal communist or anarchist society you will still need some form of violence to ensure ideological consistency.

I do think people will be surprised the amount of violence required to support either a state or a state less society.
