In all those histories of #opensource, it always bothers me how little recognition The #Apache Software Foundation (@TheASF) gets. Without a doubt, in addition to #Linux, the availability of, and the success of, the Apache #HTTPD server (and how IBM decided to use it as the core of its web server offerings) was one of the MAJOR events which proved that technology developed under Open Source was viable, business worthy, and performant. The Web succeeded because Apache HTTPD succeeded. Yet it rarely warrants even a footnote.

MongoDB needs to get back to #opensource, and together with the community, we are here to make it happen.

A humble plea for ceasefire and peace. As a child trapped in the shadows of war, I intimately knew its smell, sounds and sights. I empathize deeply with those now caught in the middle of conflict, feeling their pain as if it were my own. War brings only devastation, horror, and destruction. Nothing else. In this critical moment, let us rise above the divisions and embrace the path of peace. The truest display of courage lies in choosing peace. I call on world leaders to unite and lead the world towards peace. Choose peace.

Exciting news: I'm opening up slots for Month 3 of my free career coaching... initiative? program? thing?... I really need to name it, don't I. I was looking for a little more purpose in my life back in January. I love my job, love writing the newsletter, but you hit those moments of "...what am I bringing to the world" in any marketing job. So, after my therapist recommended I find a way to give back in one of my passion areas, came up with the idea of offering free 30 min career coaching calls for anyone in the first 5 years of their career—and man, it's just been so rewarding. We use that 30 minutes to talk about whatever you like. Some past folks wanted to talk about how to get their next promotion. Others had some rough boss situations they wanted advice on. We've talked managing time, career pathing, work/life balance, helping partners understand job time commitments—they've been wonderfully open chats, and always kept private between us. There aren't enough resources for people in the first few years of their career—it's a passion area of mine, and I'm happy to help. Tomorrow at 11 am EST, I'll post the new sign-up link on my LinkedIn for every day in April. If you're interested, I highly suggest setting an alarm—February booked in 3 minutes, and March filled up in LESS THAN A MINUTE. I do ask that you're in the first 5 years of your career, and preferably in a marketing or social role. I'm working on building resources and opps for more experience people + different fields, but I am initially targeting that group because there simply isn't enough support. So, see ya tomorrow!
