This week is Canadian Agricultural Safety Week, led by @planfarmsafety, reminding us that farm safety and mental health are connected. Exhaustion, stress, and overwhelm affect our ability to make clear decisions, notice hazards, and react quickly when things go wrong. Mental wellbeing isn't separate from farm safety, it's part of what keeps operations running safely. Safe farms need people who have the capacity to stay alert and present. That means rest, support, and managing stress matter for more than just mental health—they matter for safety too. Shivering, confusion, slurred speech, slow breathing, and numb or white skin are all warning signs of cold stress. If you notice these symptoms in yourself or someone else, get indoors immediately and seek medical help if needed. Stay safe and warm this holiday season!

🥶 What Is Cold Stress? 🥶 Cold stress happens when your body can’t maintain its normal temperature. It can lead to hypothermia, frostbite, and serious injury. Understanding how cold affects the body is the first step in staying safe during winter work.

Working long hours outside in freezing temperatures can lead to cold stress. Stay warm, take breaks, and watch for early warning signs.
